As we talked about in class, for homework this week, read a Christmas story to your family in French, or read a story in English and tell your family what it was about in French. You can also watch your favourite Christmas DVD on the French language setting.

Homework update

No, you do not have to use every verb that I gave you in a sentence (although it wouldn't be a bad idea for practice).... Consider them examples :)

Une nouvelle semaine

Who can believe their is less than 2 weeks of school left? And only 15 days until Christmas! Wow! I really enjoyed Jeopardy today! It seems you all really know your stuff! I am very impressed!

Devoirs cette semaine:
Les verbes réguliers en "re". Les phrases au présent, p.c., imparfait, et futur proche (verbe aller au présent + verbe).
Aussi, étudier pour le quiz vendredi (verbes en "re").

Journée de Neige

We were a very small class today! Only 9 people were her, so don't worry, you did not miss anything. However, we missed you all :)

We finished our Science centres today! What fun they were! Everyone was very hard at work. I am very anxious for tomorrow's news show, I know everyone involved will do an amazing job!

You will have noticed that I did not put up the verb this week. That's because I don't think you need it! You all did so fantastic in class with the "er" verbs that I think you will be just fine. Also, don't forget you can use your bescherelle!
Remember to conjugate any "er" verb in "présent, imparfait, passé composé, and futur proche".

PS I loved the presentations today! They were great!

Also, don't forget to figure out the difference between a teepee and a wigwam!

Wow!

I am sitting hear reading the prayers you wrote, they are so beautiful! I am very proud of you all! I also wanted to say how cool your science presentations were today! They didn't all stay in the air for the four seconds, but remember, science is all about trial and error. Try, try again and you will succeed! Plus, the design process was definitely a huge success! What amazing creativity we have in our class!
If I were to write a prayer to God, I would thank Him for allowing me to be so blessed :)

Bonjour!

We'll we've been very busy in class... We learned a really great :) song today that will help us remember le "futur proche". I have a feeling that no on will be making any more mistakes with that verb tense any more!

We also read another story by one of my favourite authors Melanie Watt. You guys did an awesome job with your predictions!

Une autre semaine partie.....

Well, today was a very successful play day from what I hear! Congrats to the students who were station leaders and team leaders, you did a fantastic job!

The verb pouvoir is up, so no excuses for not doing your homework :o)
Don't forget you can always use your bescherelle to help you do your homework!!! But remember, you won't find "futur proche" in it. Good news is it always stays the same - its the verb aller au présent + the verb you are conjugating (ie: Je vais pouvoir).

Les Sciences: You must complete research on how a bird, an airplane and a hot air balloon flies. This is due for Wednesday. Don't forget to start thinking about the flying object that you will be creating - remember the challenge, it has to stay in the air for a minimum of 4 seconds. Bring in any special material you might need to school for Wednesday as the entire design must be done at school.

Also, le verbe pouvoir conjugated au présent, passé composé, imparfait, and futur proche. Don't forget that you have to write a sentence for "je, tu, il, elle, nous, vous, ils, elles". This is due on Monday November 19th.

Remember to bring in your signed sheet so that you can enter the Remembrance Day poster contest - due by Wednesday! Also, Scholastic due Friday.

N'oublions pas....

Today we had an Airforce veteran come and speak to our class about his experiences during WWII. It was a very valuable experience and the students had lots of questions for him. I was so proud of all of you for being so attentive!
We also worked on our Remembrance day letters, I can't wait to read them. I know they are going to be fantastic!

Here goes... For homework you have to write one phrase for "je, tu, il, elle, on, nous, vous, ils, elles" for the verb faire in the following tenses: présent, passé composé, imparfait, and futur proche. Don't forget you have a test on Monday about les verbes être and avoir in the same four tenses. It will also include excercises on les adjectifs possesifs. There are excersise links on the blog to help you study.

Also, Halloween stories are due on Tuesday.

October News Show

Wow! Another fantastic News Show! Those that participated were incredible! From the news show hosts, to the newscasters, to the sound producers, to the gymnasts, to the piano player! Absolutely phenomenal! I was so proud of you all! I know by your journal entries that you all thought they were amazing too! I can't wait to see next month's show!

Test Jeudi

This Thursday we will be having a test on the verbs être and avoir. The test will also include a section on les adjectifs possessifs. Their are links on the blog that can help you prepare for the test.
In other news, we will be having a WWII Air force veteran come and speak to on November 6th. We are very lucky that he is willing to come into our class to share his experiences with us. This will certainly help us prepare our hearts for Remembrance day.

Je m'excuse....

It has been a few days since I have posted, so I thought I would update you all. I have added some links so that you can practice using possessive adjectives. Don't forget the important rules we learned in class! I will be bringing in the hip hop song to give us even more practice... It is quite funny! Although probably not as funny as me attempting to sing it today :o)

Perhaps we can get Léon le caméléon to sing it for us.... Or her version at least!

To answer your question Bob Petit, you are creating your own artwork in Norval Morrisseau's style. Therefore you are choosing your own animal or person and using his paintings as an inspiration. It is not meant to be an exact replicate.

On Friday, we learned all about the First Nations artist Norval Morrisseau. Using his work as an inspiration, everyone made their own masterpiece. I cannot believe how fantastic they all are! You are a class full of amazing artists! I can't wait to see your final works! Don't forget that you have to choose one image (an animal or a person) to draw. Please bring it in to class on Monday as this was part of your homework. I have attached a link under the art section so that you can see examples of Norval Morrisseau's work.

Wow! I was so impressed with the presentations of your lives today! Vous avez des vies très excitantes! I can't wait to hear the rest of them tomorrow!

Cette semaine....

Hmmm... The beginning of another week. This week we are starting our homework journals. You will have to conjugate a different verb every week (au présent, passé composé, imparfait et le futur proche). You will have to write one sentence for each different pronoun (je, tu, il, elle, on, nous, vous, ils, elles). We have done this several times in class so this should not be a problem. Plus, you will have a whole week to complete it!

Also, we worked on our road maps today.... I am very excited to learn all about the exciting events that have happened in your lives!

La fusée pétard!

We were very lucky today as we got to see a "rocket" being launched! It was very cool! A big thank you to Magmau's mom for coming out to show us this - it ties in really well with our Flight unit.

Today we had our Thanksgiving liturgy where we got to focus on what we were thankful for in our lives. We were also asked to think of acts of kindness that we can do on a daily basis to enhance other peoples lives. Think of ways that you can help others around you by being a good neighbour.

Guinness World Record Walk

Congratulations on being part of history! You all showed your commitment to healthy living and the environment! You should be very proud of yourselves, I am!

We used a Venn diagram today to compare Léon and Gaston, two very different chameleons (although they do have some things in common). A Venn diagram is a very useful tool when you are comparing like items or characters.

News Show!

Today was the first news show of the year! I was so proud of all of you that participated! I didn't realize just how talented you all are! Congratulations to the students who won the awesome student award for being respectful!

Tomorrow is our big walk - don't forget to wear comfortable shoes! À demain!

Un nouveau mois est arrivé...

Already in October - it's hard to believe one full month has gone by since we started school! This month we will be continuing our Science unit on Properties of Flight and the Characteristics of Air! We will be doing many more experiments to learn all that we can! Our rockets were a complete success!

We will also be starting our first Social Studies Unit which is on Aboriginals. There is so much to learn but I know that you are all up to the challenge! Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
